this is far superior to many of the Karaoke machines I have tried and failed with. it does what it says on the box. I only wish Vocal Star would improve the technology when changing keys to keep the quality of the tracks i.e. no chipmunk sounds ... other than that well pleased

Just purchased the
VS-800 Vocal Star Karaoke machine. I ordered direct from Vocal Star late on a
Monday afternoon and, on a standard delivery, the unit arrived on the
Wednesday. Despite not being particularly tech savvy I found the unit
easy to set up, linking to my TV and surround sound system, and had mic in hand
in a matter of minutes. I did have a couple of operational questions but the
support team were really helpful and answered fully and promptly. I now
can’t wait for the opportunity for my friends to come over and to test our
singing abilities using the ‘scoring’ function! The karaoke CD collection

A good machine with some good functions. We hadt he VS600 before and just wanted more out of a machine so sent it back and echnaged for the VS800.
We play karaoke music via the discs mainly but bluetooth is good as there are songs we like that we can't get on disc that are online to stream.

I wanted to upgrade my old karaoke machine from being a four disc player.I was a bit reluctant to change to a one disc player but after speaking to the customer service team, they explained i can put all my discs on a usb stick so i dont have to constatly change over the disc sets inbetween songs.Really happy with my new player and the sound quality is miles better than my previous, and the wired mics that came with it sound great. I've coppied all my discs on to a usb stick which is great, but it did take up some time renaming the tracks on my computer. Its now easy to change between tracks and ive created a folder of my favourites.

We absolutely love this machine, we're a small family of competitive singers and thought it was time to purchase a karaoke system to bring the family together at weekends. Saw this machine advertised as an 'all in one' player and thought i would see what it is like. I do not regret buying this as it comes in very handy for everything. I now use this as my standard DVD player and also for my CDs. I also love the karaoke function for when our friends are round for a few drinks, it always makes such a fun night.

very good machine - had to refer to their video once or twice but I got there. A word of caution don't run through a cinema system there's a 2 second delay between the singing and the music nothing to do with the machine it's the way they're making tellys now a days the problem is the tv tries to convert the sound signal to a format it can recognise - hence the delay you can use a sound bar or hi fi speakers no problems there..

Good fun and a well made microphone and cd player. The actual sound quality of the mics did seem to alter peoples voices slightly, but very easy to set up and play, 85% of the family got involved on christmas morning, so a hit all round.

"The microphones are too quiet compared to the music?"
This can be easily solved by adjusting the music & microphone levels, please follow the steps below…
1. Turn the microphones volume up to full using the remote
2. Turn the music down to volume 6 (this is roughly 50% of max volume)
3. Increase the volume on your TV, you may have to turn it up higher than you normally would to allow for the reduced music volume level on the Player.
Hopefully your microphones should now appear much louder compared to the music, you can keep adjusting the music, microphone & TV volumes to get the perfect balance between all three. Also ensure you are holding the microphones close to your mouth
"I’m getting an echo / delay / latency on the microphones?"
This is a common problem that is one of the pitfalls of using a HDMI connection for karaoke. HDMI is a digital connection and digital connections take time to process, meaning when you sing into the microphone it takes time for the karaoke player to convert the sound to digital, send the sound signal to the TV, your TV then processes the sound and sends it through the speakers, this means there can be a slight delay from when you sing, to hearing your voice come back through your TV speakers. This delay is exaggerated if you are running a soundbar or surround sound system as it just adds processing time. It's impossible to remove the delay completely, but there are some things you can do that will help...
1. If your TV has the Red/White/Yellow RCA inputs, connect to your TV using this method (cable is included), as this is an Analogue connection, and will process the sound much faster.
2. Check to see if your TV has any sound modes on, such as surround sound, stadium mode etc. These sound processing modes cause havoc with live vocals, so go into your TV settings and ensure any sound effect modes are switched off
3. Turn the microphone echo all the way down using the remote
4. Some modern TV's are aware of the issue and allow you to reduce the delay by the second.
5. To overcome the issue completely, you will need to purchase a speaker that connects to the karaoke player, bypassing the TV.
"I'm trying to play an MP4 or AVI file, it just says unsupported format?"
Vocal Star players will not play MP4. It will play most AVI formats, but some still will not work depending on how they have been formatted or what type of AVI file they are.
"I'm trying to play an MP3+G file, but its not working?"
Please make sure all of your MP3+G files are in "unzipped" or "extracted" format before trying to play the track.
"The scoring feature isn't working?"
The scoring feature will only work on CDG discs and not DVD discs.
"How to get tracks from a DVD karaoke disc onto a USB stick"
1. Insert the DVD into a PC
2. Copy the files from the DVD to a separate folder on your PC
3. Delete all files except for the .VOB file
4. Then copy the VOB files to a USB/SD Card
A good tip is to create folders on the USB/SD relevant to the disc (Karaoke Hits 1>Disc one etc), that way the files will be in the right order and the song books will still be effective.

Please ensure that you are using a CD+G Disc. DVDs and MP3+G discs will notwork.
We suggest the max size USB stick to use is 16gb.
Creating a Song List from karaoke downloads you have purchased online
When you download tracks and put them onto a USB/SD, it can get difficult to select the song you require when there are hundreds of tracks. On the VS800 and VS1200, you can create a songbook to make it easier. Insert the USB/SD containing MP3+G tracks into the Karaoke Machine and press “song list” on the remote and follow instructions. When you insert the SD/USB into a PC,your songbook will be there as a text file.
"How do I connect to Bluetooth?"
It’s simple to connect to Bluetooth. Firstly, please ensure the items you are looking to connect have their volume turned up for the media you are playing(making sure by listening to it on the device first).
Press the Bluetooth button on the VS-1200
You will hear "trying to connect to Bluetooth" to indicate your Vocal-Star is looking for a connection
On your device (phone/tablet ect) search for devices to connect to
Select the device and you will be ready to go
A good tip is that you can control the volume and turn it up louder from the device connected to the Karaoke Player.
"There is no picture on my TV"
Please use either a HDMI cable or RCA Cable – not both.
If using HDMI, press the “source” button on your TV to find the HDMI channel
If using RCA cables, ensure your T.V is switched to AV viewing
"How do I connect Wireless Microphones?"
Within the wireless microphones package will be a jack to jack cable. Connect this to the back of your wireless receiver and into either of the microphone inputs on the front of the karaoke machine.
"How do I connect my machine to speakers?"
Active Speaker
Active speakers generally have a plug and do not require a separate amplifier. To connect to these, please strip the yellow cable from your RCA leads (red white and yellow cables). Ensure the yellow cable is connected from the karaoke machine to the TV. Connect the red and white cables to the active speakers.
"When I am connected to Bluetooth, the words do not appear on the TV"
Bluetooth only transmits sound. Use the mobile, tablet, laptop or whatever device you are connecting to the player with for the words.
